Marcy Walker’s friends, Melissa Braverman and Johanna Humphries, created a GoFundMe to help the All My Children alum navigate an “ongoing health issue where financial support is urgently needed”

In May, Walker's former Santa Barbara costar, A Martinez, revealed that she "has been ill and is working hard to get well" and promoted a June 7 livestream to raise money for her medical expenses

“The immediate outpouring of love, nostalgia, and gratitude from fans all over the world was nothing short of breathtaking,” her friends wrote on GoFundMe

Marcy Walker’s community is coming together to help her navigate an “ongoing health issue.”

After her Santa Barbara costar, A Martinez, revealed in May that the 64-year-old actress had been facing “significant health challenges,” some of her other friends — including author Melissa Braverman and Johanna Humphries — created a GoFundMe to further support her health journey.

“From her unforgettable, Emmy-winning portrayal of Eden Capwell on Santa Barbara to Liza Colby on All My Children, Marcy brought an incredible brightness, vulnerability, and grace into our living rooms every day,” Braverman and Humphries wrote on the fundraising website.

“While she has spent years giving her time, energy, and heart to others — both as an actress and later through her dedicated ministry and community work — she is currently navigating an ongoing health issue where financial support is urgently needed," they continued.

On Monday, June 7, Martinez, 77, joined Braverman in participating in a special two-hour livestream in which the former costars spent a “couple of hours talking about what it was like” to star in the Emmy Award-winning soap opera.

While each ticket cost $100, all of the proceeds went toward helping Walker get through the “financial challenges” that accompanied her mysterious illness.

“Seeing her smile, hearing her reflect on those magical years, and feeling her warmth after so much time away from the spotlight was a beautiful reminder of why we fell in love with her in the first place,” Braverman and Humphries wrote of Walker’s virtual appearance. “The immediate outpouring of love, nostalgia, and gratitude from fans all over the world was nothing short of breathtaking.”

“But beyond the glamour of the screen and the joy of our recent reunion, life brings real-world challenges,” they added. “Marcy needs our help.”

Prior to the livestream, Martinez revealed that Walker “has been ill and is working hard to get well” while encouraging her fans to, as the event’s website put it, “rally around her and show her the power of the fandom’s love when it matters most.”

Martinez and Walker played Cruz Castillo and Eden Capwell on the NBC drama from 1984 to 1991, quickly cementing themselves as one of daytime's most beloved super couples.

“Playing that star-crossed couple was a high point in both our lives — and the story of their journey together meant a lot to a lot of people — but we've never really taken the time to look back at those those days with an appetite to speak the details of how and why it happened,” Martinez wrote on Instagram while promoting the event. “Guided by questions, we're hoping to remedy that on June 7th."
