Karoline Leavitt is leaving her post as the White House Press Secretary at the end of August, but leaving her high-profile position won’t leave her lacking in net worth thanks to her older and richer husband, Nicholas Ricchio, as well as the money she has accumulated during her 20-month tenure.
Leavitt, 28, was confirmed to be stepping away from her White House role by Donald Trump himself on Wednesday, August 12, in a statement on Truth Social.
Now, as theories emerge and are debunked about the reasons behind her seemingly abrupt departure, some are wondering about what it means for her future.

While she has worked in politics since graduating from college, she was catapulted into the national orbit when she was selected by Trump to serve as his press secretary for his second term.
As of 2026, Leavitt was among the highest-paid White House officials, with a salary of $195,200. Others in the White House making this salary include chief of staff Susie Wiles, deputy chief of staff and homeland security adviser Stephen Miller, communications director Steven Cheung, and border czar Tom Homan.
However, prior to her marriage to Riccio, 60, her financial filings showed limited personal assets, which changed after her 2025 marriage.
According to Celebrity Net Worth, her 2025 disclosures following the marriage and her new role showed a significant change.

In her OGE Form 278e New Entrant public financial disclosure tied to her new role, she reported ownership of KCL, LLC, a Hampton, New Hampshire-based company, with an additional $165,000 in business income and a $35,000 salary from the Republican National Committee.

She also disclosed compensation sources over $5,000 from Newsmax, the Howie Carr Radio Network, Ayotte for Governor, MAGA Inc, the Republican National Committee, Donald J. Trump for President, Lupoli Companies, Olympic Media, and KCL, LLC.
ProPublica’s analysis of her official disclosure showed her reported asset values at approximately $1.3 to $2.8 million.
As for Riccio, a real estate developer, he is valued at $10 million and has a portfolio of rental and vacation properties in Hampton Beach, New Hampshire.

He is the founder of Riccio Enterprises and is connected to Nautical Beach Properties, a Hampton Beach rental business which includes beach houses, apartments, and the Nautical Motel.
While the family’s net worth was largely tied to Riccio more than Leavitt, her decision to step back will cut some income from the family portfolio–but likely won’t affect things too drastically for her or their two children, Nico and Viviana.
The couple’s children were cited as the reason for her stepping back from her post in Trump’s White House, which he said he “totally understands and respects.”
In her own statement, Leavitt also shared that she had struggled since returning to work after the birth of her daughter.

“Being a mother and welcoming a new baby while working in one of the most demanding jobs in the world has been the most rewarding yet challenging season of my life, to say the least,” she wrote.
“The truth is since returning to the White House after the birth of my daughter, I have felt in my heart that I cannot be the best mom my two young children deserve while devoting the constant time, energy, and attention required of the White House Press Secretary–and that is why I have ultimatelymade the bittersweet decision to depart the White House and embark on a new chapter in my life.”
