Happy birthday, Lizzo!

The Grammy winner celebrated her 38th trip around the sun on Monday, April 27 by stepping out to the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles with boyfriend Myke Wright for an outing.

Lizzo sported a black dress with sheer side panels and matching black heels and sunglasses, paired with a brown fur shawl draped over her shoulders. She held hands with Wright outside the famed L.A. hotel.

The pair went public with their relationship in April 2022, but they've been linked since October 2021. They've known each other since meeting while cohosting MTV's music series Wonderland in 2016.

Lizzo recently spoke about Wright on The Drew Barrymore Show and how she was on a path for herself when they met. "I feel like romantic love, I know this is gonna sound crazy, but it starts off very selfish," she said.

"You have to be like, 'I'm living for me.' I don't want to be out here searching for somebody else or searching for a second half. I'm complete, and then when you are complete you attract, and I believe that when I was on my path," continued Lizzo, noting she was going through "some crazy stuff" when they met.

Working on Wonderland led Lizzo to move from Minneapolis to L.A., and they got to know each other on set — first as "just friends."

"I was like, 'Wow, he's so cool. Like, this is my best friend,' and I love the friends-to-lovers trope," she said. "He understands every aspect of me…because when you're friends there's no audition. Like, with romance you're auditioning, you're going on dates and you're trying to show off the best version of yourself so they can like you."

Earlier this week, Lizzo also marked her 38th birthday with the announcement of her upcoming album, Bitch, set for a June 5 release. She explained the title in a statement.

"Reclaiming the word Bitch is power," began Lizzo. "It's taking a label once used to diminish women and turning it into a declaration of confidence, and unapologetic self-love."

The artist, who referred to herself in the past as "100% that bitch" on her hit "Truth Hurts," isn't the only musician to flip the term.

"So many incredible women in music have used the word for positivity like Meredith Brooks and Missy [Elliott]," added Lizzo, referencing Brooks' hit "Bitch" and Elliott's "She's a Bitch."

"It was only fitting to name my album Bitch because it has become my favorite word when using it on my own terms," continued Lizzo's statement, "and because I am 100% that bitch!"

Lizzo will release the album's title track, which interpolates Brooks' "Bitch," on Friday, May 1.
