Kate Middleton and Prince William are celebrating another milestone in their marriage.

Ten years after they first met at the University of St. Andrews, the couple tied the knot on April 29, 2011, in front of more than 1,900 attendees at Westminster Abbey (along with thousands of well-wishers outside). The nuptials were the talk of the town, and at the time, PEOPLE called it "the greatest and grandest royal affair" since King Charles and Princess Diana's 1981 marriage. On the star-studded guest list were David and Victoria Beckham, as well as Elton John and his husband David Furnish, and many other noteworthy names.

Afterward, the Prince and Princess of Wales rode in a carriage to Buckingham Palace, where they exchanged a surprising two kisses on the balcony. Two parties, hosted by Queen Elizabeth and then-Prince Charles, had the festivities going until well after midnight.

On their 15th anniversary, look back at the most memorable photos from their royal wedding.
