Jessica Castro, who was married to Ryan de Nino on Married at First Sight, spoke for the first time about his death.
Jessica and Ryan both starred on the reality TV series on the second season that aired in 2015. They were matched together on Married at First Sight, where strangers are paired and they meet for the first time on their wedding day. The show then follows the pair and other matched contestants as they attempt to build a relationship following their nuptials.
The couple then has to decide if they are to stay married or get a divorce, Jessica and Ryan choice to stay married but later broke up after the show ended. Jessica also filed a restraining order against Ryan at the time following their split. She recently reacted to the news of his death at the age of 40, earlier this week in New Jersey.

"I have not had contact with Ryan in years so I have/had no idea what his life entailed," Jessica told Page Six on Friday, August 14.
"However, I do send my sincerest condolences to his family during this very difficult time," she added. "I can not imagine what they are going through. May he rest peacefully."

News of Ryan's death had broke on Friday, August 14. A cause of death for his passing has not been disclosed.

Ryan's sister, Melissa, posted a tribute to him on Facebook on Tuesday, August 11.
“Ryan was so damn funny and witty. He was fiercely loyal to those he loved. He had a huge heart, always," she wrote. "I can't explain what it’s like to lose a sibling. Someone who’s been there from the beginning and shares the same memories. No matter what we were going through, I loved him immensely. Life as I know it will never be the same."

Back in 2015, Jessica had filed a restraining order against Ryan. Her attorney at the time told ABC News that Ryan had threatened to kill Jessica and her family so the present priority is to protect her from "all threats to her safety and well-being."
Kinetic Content, the production company that produces Married at First Sight, had also issued a statement to the outlet about the former pair amid their then-legal situation.
"We don't know all the details and can't comment on the specifics. What we can say is that unfortunately, couples on the show can go through real divorces, and divorce can often be difficult," Kinetic Content wrote.

They went on to talk about the experts on the show who match the couples, who "have the best of intentions and highest hopes for success for each couple."
They said the couples undergo "extensive background and psychological checks by third parties." Kinetic Content added that while they document the couple's six-week journey after the wedding, the company "can't control how they behave, or govern their actions after production."
"Our thoughts are with these individuals, and as always we have offered each of them significant aftercare resources," their statement concluded. "We wish them nothing but the best, and hope they have a bright future ahead of them."
