Blaze (voiced by Mykal-Michelle Harris) in 'Toy Story 5'.
- *Toy Story 5* introduces Blaze, a new kid voiced by Mykal-Michelle Harris.
- Blaze is "a spunky, funky, equestrian horse girl" who is "an older kid, but she's not afraid to play with toys," Harris tells EW.
- "Blaze finds Jessie and Bullseye after a series of unfortunate events," according to the actress.
The new *Toy Story 5* kid is blazing her own path in the Pixar animated saga.
Emmy winner Mykal-Michelle Harris (*Mixed-ish*, *Raven's Home*, *Big Little Lies*) voices Blaze, a new kid joining Woody (Tom Hanks), Buzz (Tim Allen), and the rest of the gang. She and her family live on a ranch in the same home where Jessie (Joan Cusack) and her first owner Emily used to live.
During the events of the fifth film, the cowgirl toy finds herself back on that doorstep with Bullseye.

Bullseye and Jessie ride Daffodil in 'Toy Story 5'.
"I would describe Blaze as a spunky, funky, equestrian horse girl," Harris exclusively tells **. "She was raised on a ranch with her family, and she's never afraid to be herself. She's an older kid, but she's not afraid to play with toys or to have a whole bunch of horse figurines. That's kind of her thing.”
The main events of *Toy Story 5 *— which launches EW's Summer Movie Preview with a cover story about the franchise's history and a preview of this new entry — kick off when Bonnie (Scarlett Spears) is introduced to Lilypad (Greta Lee), a smart device that her parents hope will help their now-8-year-old make friends. With all the kids in the neighborhood spending all their time on screens, Jessie sets out on a mission to help Bonnie make a real-world connection. Her journey, however, goes awry and she winds up sent back to Emily's old address.

"Blaze finds Jessie and Bullseye after a series of unfortunate events, and she immediately takes a liking to them," Harris explains. "She obviously loves Bullseye because he's a horse, and she loves Jessie as a cowboy. She immediately uses her in her playtime, and they have an instant connection, an instant bond. It takes a little bit of time for Jessie to like Blaze, but they do end up forming a connection."

Blaze's ranch is home to an actual horse, named Daffodil, as well as a family pig named Jimmy Dean, but there are also the old toys she forgot about outside or tucked away in a drawer somewhere. Those include Smarty Pants (Conan O'Brien), a potty-training gadget; Atlas (Craig Robinson), a hippo-shaped GPS toy; and Snappy (Shelby Rabara), a kid-friendly play camera.
"It's amazing being able to be back at the very first house. The very first *Toy Story* was 30 years ago. They just had their anniversary last year," Harris says. "So I think that coming back to where everything began is such a nostalgic feeling because, at this point, there are almost four or five generations that have been introduced to this movie."
*Toy Story 5* premieres in theaters June 19.
