Meet Maya Boyd, the Broadway actress set to play Storm in Marvelās āX-Menā

The Broadway star, who acted alongside Taraji P. Henson in an adaptation of Joe Turnerās Come and Gone, is the latest young starlet set to make her Marvel debut.
Marvel fans have their new Storm: Maya Boyd.
During Marvelās D23 presentation on Friday night in Anaheim, California, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige revealed the cast of the upcoming āX-Menā reboot, with Boyd set to take on the role previously portrayed by Halle Berry and Alexandra Shipp. Berry was the adult version of Storm for four X-Men movies from 2000 to 2014, while Shipp played a younger version of the character in āX-Men: Apocalypseā and āX-Men: Dark Phoenix.ā
Adding Boyd to the Marvel Cinematic Universe is Marvel Studiosā second unique gambit in many months. In July, the studio behind some of Hollywoodās biggest hits announced that āIndustryā and āThe Long Walkā actor David Jonsson would take on the mantle of Black Panther.

After the casting became public knowledge, Boyd quickly her Instagram bio and cemented the news with a few lightning emjois as her follower count has already jumped to nearly 100,000 accounts.

So who is the 23-year-old soon to take on one of the more anticipated roles in the MCU? Sheās a rising Broadway star with plenty to prove.
Before starring in āJoe Turnerās Come and Goneā alongside Taraji P. Henson, Boyd studied musical theater at the University of Michigan, earning her Bachelorās degree. Even while still at UM, she snagged a role on Broadway, proving that talent doesnāt have an age limit.
She made her debut on New Yorkās premiere theater circuit with āMerrily We Roll Alongā in 2023. She departed the show and was the replacement for āJuliet,ā singing as the titular character in eight shows a week. Now her film debut is set to arrive in May 2028, and she has plenty of people cheering on her casting and what she could do next.
