First Lady Melania Trump called out late-night host Jimmy Kimmel as a “coward” and condemned a joke he made about her during a recent broadcast. Escalating the already tense equation between the Trump family and ABC.

Melania Trump slams Jimmy Kimmel over his joke

During a sketch on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the host joked about the first lady’s appearance, which got backlash. “Look at Melania, so beautiful. Mrs. Trump, you have a glow like an expectant widow,” Kimmel said. The segment aired just two days before the actual shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

Melania Trump responded on X, attacking Kimmel’s character and calling him a coward. “His monologue about my family isn’t comedy — his words are corrosive and deepens the political sickness within America,” she wrote. “People like Kimmel shouldn’t have the opportunity to enter our homes each evening to spread hate,” Melania added.

The first lady also turned her ire toward ABC, the network that broadcasts Kimmel’s weeknight show. She demanded accountability, asking, “how many times will ABC’s leadership enable Kimmel’s atrocious behavior at the expense of our community?” President Donald Trump also wrote on social media, similar to his wife’s criticism. He declared that Kimmel’s comments went “beyond the pale” and called for the host to be “immediately fired by Disney and ABC.”

This is not the first time Kimmel has faced serious consequences for his commentary. In September, ABC pulled Kimmel off the air after a conservative backlash happened over remarks he made following the assassination of Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk. Kimmel had accused the “MAGA gang” of attempting to score political points from the murder. The suspension led to a wide debate over free speech and censorship. Disney, the parent company of ABC, suspended Kimmel’s show shortly after.

As of now, ABC hasn’t responded to Melania Trump’s statements.
