McAfee has been called out on a number of occasions for choosing not to criticize star NFL players since he joined ESPN's Monday Night Countdown this season, even as he has an even more prominent role with Jason Kelce away from the show.
In the last few minutes of the first half of the Buffalo Bills' game with the Los Angeles Rams, Allen threw an interception on third down, with Jaylen Watson catching the ball around midfield. This gave Matt Stafford the opportunity to score, throwing a deep ball which was just inches away from landing in Puka Nacua's hands, with the Bills getting away with one.

In reaction, a number of fans were not pleased, with one stating, "Shameless from McAfee," as another said, "Pat McAfee just said JosH Allen INT was an ARM PUNT."

Johnson took a checkdown pass 40 yards to save Allen's blushes from having one of the worst first halves in any quarterback's games this season.
Allen is the runaway MVP leader through the first month of the season, with his performance against the Rams in the first half being his worst game in years.
McAfee is leading Monday Night Countdown with Jason McCourty, as Kelce has been in London for the past two weeks while calling games for the NFL Network - impressing in his role.
ESPN put McAfee on the show this season, adding more to his already stacked plate with the company - traveling the country every weekend for ESPN College GameDay, as well as having his own daily Pat McAfee Show, which airs after ESPN First Take.
McAfee is reportedly in talks to sign a deal worth as much as $60 million per year, to make him one of the highest-paid in all of sports.
He is currently signed to a deal worth around $30 million per year, while continuing to take on more and more roles over the past 24 months.
