Perez Hilton Was Treated for ‘Overdose’ After Self-Harming Livestream: Police

Perez Hilton was treated for an overdose after his alarming livestream, PEOPLE can confirm.
The 48-year-old internet personality was taken to the hospital on Tuesday, Aug. 4, after he appeared to commit acts of self-harm and was seen covered in blood during a TikTok livestream from his Miami home. Authorities were called to the scene after receiving reports of a suicide attempt, and he was hospitalized under Florida’s Baker Act, a state law that allows authorities to hold someone involuntarily for a period of time if they pose a threat of harm to themselves or others.
According to a Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office incident report, obtained by PEOPLE on Friday, Aug. 14, a deputy responded to Hilton’s home on Aug. 4 after his sister, Barbara Lavandeira, discovered him harming himself.
According to the report, Lavandeira had fled the home alongside the blogger’s three children when she saw Hilton unclothed and “covered in blood” inside his bathroom, rushing to her vehicle outside. While they were in the vehicle, Hilton had exited his residence, still unclothed and covered in blood, and he began “banging on the vehicle’s driver window,” Lavandeira told authorities, per the report.

By the time deputies arrived, Hilton had reentered his home and locked the front door. After authorities established a perimeter around his home, several officers and some of Hilton’s family members later entered the residence and eventually brought him to the living room, per the report. A fire rescue team “began treatment on scene for multiple lacerations and an overdose” before he was taken to a local hospital, the report adds.
During the incident, Hilton, whose legal name is Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr., experienced “significant blood loss” and “additional injuries,” requiring surgery, his family shared in a statement on Saturday, Aug. 8. His TikTok account was banned as a result of the livestream.
Per the police report, Lavandeira told authorities that Hilton had been “suicidal” the week before his livestream and that their family had taken him to get treatment the week before the Aug. 4 incident.

In an interview with Page Six, published on Thursday, Aug. 13, Lavandeira shared that her brother had “voluntarily” sought psychiatric treatment in the weeks before the incident after he had felt “empty, hopeless and like he was a burden” and taken leftover painkillers from a previous surgery, but that he was discharged from the hospital after “several days of evaluation and treatment.” She added that Hilton had been “struggling with depression, anxiety, stress and overwhelming thoughts” after he was hospitalized for sepsis in March.
Hilton is a father to children Mario, 13, Mia, 11, and Mayte, 8, all of whom live with his mother in Miami, where they moved to be closer to family earlier this year. His family said in a previous statement that Hilton’s children, niece and sister were home minutes before his livestream, and when it became apparent that he was “experiencing a severe mental health crisis and harming himself,” they “immediately fled” the property.
On Friday, Aug. 7, three days after the livestream, Hilton’s mother, Teresita Lavandeira, filed for temporary custody of the children. Teresita’s attorney told PEOPLE in a statement that the family’s “concern and object” was to “protect the children and make sure they are safe.”

Representatives for Hilton shared in a statement on Wednesday, Aug. 5 that they did not “have any additional confirmed information to share regarding Perez Hilton’s condition” and have not commented further in the days since.
