Prince Harry scores major win as he's shortlisted for award after surprise appearance

Prince Harry and his travel initiative, Travalyst, have landed another award nomination, it has been revealed.
The Duke of Sussex established the not-for-profit organization Travalyst back in 2019 with the goal of making the tourism industry more environmentally sustainable. It was confirmed on Monday, August 10, that Travalyst has been shortlisted at the Skift IDEA Awards 2026 in the Travel Technology and Sustainability Tech category.
In a statement responding to the news, the organization said, "We're excited to announce that we've been shortlisted as a finalist in the Skift IDEA Awards 2026! Over 490 entries were submitted from around the world this year." It comes as Harry recently enjoyed a lavish date night with wife Meghan Markle.

Harry's ties to Travalyst have frequently drawn scrutiny, with both the Duke and Duchess of Sussex facing accusations of being "hypocrites" over their repeated use of private jets.
The Daily Mail reported that in the same year the organization was launched, the couple took four such flights in just 11 days. Harry addressed the backlash at the time during a speech in Amsterdam, insisting there are circumstances where the safety of his family must come first, reports the Express.

The Duke said, "I spend 99% of my life travelling the world by commercial. Occasionally, there needs to be an opportunity based on a unique circumstance to ensure that my family are safe."
He acknowledged that "no one is perfect" and insisted "we can all do better" when it comes to addressing environmental challenges. Harry's words were called into question following the appointment of Travalyst's new director, Graham Miller, last month.
Mr. Miller has previously taken aim at frequent flyers, drawing comparisons between them and drunk drivers, according to the Daily Mail. He stated in 2020, while serving as a lecturer at the University of Surrey, "There was a time when mentioning on a Monday that you'd just flown back from Milan or New York made you sound sophisticated. Now it's like boasting that you drank five pints and drove home."

Beyond Mr. Miller's appointment, the Travalyst board also welcomed three additional new members — Eva Barboni, Liz Ortiguera and R. Todd Ruppert — while saying goodbye to Clea Kaske-Kuck and Dr. Sally Uren. The new accolade comes just days after Harry and Meghan made an unexpected appearance in Canada to attend the David Foster Foundation 40th Anniversary Celebration in Victoria, British Columbia.

The occasion marked the 40th anniversary gala for the David Foster Foundation. The Duchess wore a dark Greta Constantine gown that cascaded to the floor behind her. She sported simple jewelry, avoiding a necklace altogether, as a cape wrapped around her shoulder.
The one-shoulder look complemented her décolletage and drew attention to a stunning pair of sapphire-and-diamond earrings once owned by her mother-in-law, the late Princess Diana.
