A member of one of the world's wealthiest royal families was found unconscious on a busy London street after a cocaine binge, while she was meant to be looking after a toddler.
Mahrah Al Nahyan, 32, was discovered slumped against railings in West London beside an unconscious man, as the barefoot three-year-old played nearby with a scooter, a court heard. Al Nahyan, who had taken cocaine in the days before the incident, remained unconscious for around 30 minutes, prosecutors told Southwark Crown Court.
A passersby raised the alarm after spotting the unattended child perilously close to moving traffic on June 13. This comes as investigators are looking into the "long-time drug dealer" for Hayden Panettiere following her accidental overdose death.

The toddler was taken into the care of concerned onlookers until police officers arrived at the scene at approximately 1:50 pm.
Prosecutor Rio Pahlavanpour told the court that members of the public had intervened because the toddler was barefoot and appeared to be in danger, according to The Times.
He stated, "They noticed the child was unattended, without shoes on the street with a scooter and members of the public intervened as he seemed to be in close proximity to moving traffic."

Bystander footage showed Al Nahyan slumped against a railing, her head drooping and arms folded. A toy airplane was scattered on the ground nearby, as her young child played in the area.
An unconscious man was also visible, flat on his back in a neighboring doorway. Upon regaining consciousness, Al Nahyan allegedly behaved erratically, shouting at those around her, "This is not a slaughterhouse; why do you care so much? Why are you so worried?"

Drug paraphernalia was discovered in her bags, although no illegal substances were found, the court heard.
Al Nahyan, who is connected by marriage to Abu Dhabi's ruling royal family, entered a guilty plea to a single charge of child neglect.
Her defense lawyer, Stephen Vullo KC, clarified that she had not taken any illegal substances on the day in question, but was suffering from extreme exhaustion following prior cocaine use. He told the court she had been receiving treatment for drug dependency at the Priory center in Woking, Surrey, since July.

Vullo revealed that his client had remained clean since beginning her treatment program and had shown "significant remorse and resolve to overcome her addiction."
She intended to complete a three-month rehabilitation program before moving to the Guildford area, where she planned to continue as an outpatient and attend Narcotics Anonymous meetings.
He stated, "She made a grave mistake that day and she knows it."
During the sentencing, Mr Justice Johnson KC condemned Al Nahyan's complete disregard for the child's wellbeing. The judge stated, "By leaving [the child] to play barefoot in the street while under the influence of drugs, you showed a recklessness and disregard for [the child's] safety."

He described how the toddler had bolted toward the road while chasing a piece of paper, only to be intercepted by a passing stranger. The judge warned that without the intervention of bystanders, the child could have suffered serious injury or worse.
He went on to highlight that the toddler could have wandered off, gotten lost, been abducted, been hurt by a stranger, or become deeply distressed upon discovering Al Nahyan and her companion unconscious.
Al Nahyan was handed a two-year community order with a rehabilitation requirement. She was also fined £5,000 ($6,625) and ordered to pay £1,000 ($1,325) in prosecution costs. The court heard that she receives a monthly allowance of £8,000 ($10,601).
Her family is a prominent member of the Abu Dhabi ruling dynasty, whose vast fortune is estimated to surpass £250 billion ($331 billion) and whose influence extends across global investments and the United Arab Emirates' vast oil reserves.
