South Korea to expand drone forces, train 500,000 operators, ministry says

SEOUL, June 26 (Reuters) - South Korea ‌will rapidly ‌expand its drone and ​counter-drone capabilities, including by training 500,000 "drone warriors" and ‌acquiring more ⁠than 20,000 low-cost expendable drones, ⁠the Defence Ministry said ​on Friday.

The ​military ​also plans ‌to produce 110,000 drones in the period to 2029 for distribution ‌across units, ​as part ​of ​a broader ‌push to strengthen ​unmanned ​capabilities and counter North Korea, ​it ‌said.
