Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith have more than 30 years of love between them.
They first met in 1994 on the set of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, when she auditioned for the role of his onscreen girlfriend, Lisa Wilkes. Though she didn't get the role, they eventually started dating following the actor's separation from Sheree Fletcher.
In December 1997, they married in Baltimore, Maryland, and welcomed their son Jaden the next year and their daughter Willow in 2000.
Throughout their decades-long marriage, the actors have been open about the highs and rocky lows of their relationship. Pinkett Smith revealed in a 2023 PEOPLE cover story that the couple had been separated for six years prior to Smith infamously slappingChris Rock at the 2022 Oscars.
"That moment of the s--- hitting the fan is when you see where you really are," she told the Daily Mail's YOU Magazine in 2023. "After all those years trying to figure out if I would leave Will's side, it took that slap for me to see I will never leave him."
A source told PEOPLE in 2025 that although the pair continues to live in separate homes, they are "still together."

During an interview with Oprah Winfrey in November 2021, Smith admitted that the couple went through a rough patch in their relationship in September 2011, following an explosive fight at Pinkett Smith's 40th birthday party.
"We realized that it was a fantasy illusion that we could make each other happy," Smith said. "We agreed that she had to make herself happy and I had to make myself happy. Then we were going to present ourselves back to the relationship already happy—versus demanding that the other person fill our empty cup."
